Driving housing growth in North Iowa through strategic site identification, collaborative partnerships, and strong connections with developers.
Incorporated in 2022 and established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2024, the North Iowa Corridor Housing Development Corporation is focused on strengthening communities across Cerro Gordo County through neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, and workforce partnerships. The HDC works to expand housing supply and support strategic residential development across the region.
Rehabilitating existing homes to preserve character and strengthen community
Helping projects move forward through partnerships, strategic planning, and local expertise
Partnering with organizations to grow the skilled construction workforce
The Blackmore Project marks the Housing Development Corporation’s first major rehabilitation effort, turning homes once destined for demolition into revitalized, owner-occupied housing. With support from a $500,000 investment by the City of Mason City, three homes were relocated to neighborhoods in need of reinvestment.
Rather than demolishing the homes, the HDC preserved their historic character and craftsmanship by relocating them to established older neighborhoods – reducing landfill strain while strengthening the fabric of long‑standing community blocks.
The North Iowa Corridor Housing Development Corporation uses a community‑focused process to preserve existing housing, reduce waste, and create quality, owner‑occupied homes.
