Sixty Clear Lake middle and high school teachers stepped outside the classroom on August 20 for the first Business Connections Day, an initiative designed to strengthen the connection between education and local industry.
Bringing Education and Industry Together
The North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation partnered with the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Clear Lake Community School District to organize the event.
Teachers toured North Iowa businesses and heard directly from employers about their operations, workforce needs, and the skills they will need from future employees.
Helping Students Discover Local Opportunities
By increasing educators’ awareness of the diverse careers available across North Iowa, Business Connections Day better equips them to connect students with pathways that align with their interests and abilities.
Participating businesses represented a variety of industries. This gave educators a broader look at local workplaces, educational requirements and the many paths students can take after graduation right here in North Iowa.
