The North Iowa Area Community College John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center has developed a new grant reimbursement program for the City of Mason City that is expected to help grow local businesses.
The Mason City MicroEnterprise Program, which was commissioned by the Mason City City Council and is administered by the Pappajohn Center, began Tuesday, April 17.
More than 83% of the businesses in Cerro Gordo County are microenterprises, meaning they have five or fewer employees. Participating businesses in Mason City can apply for grant reimbursement funding that can be used for pre-approved goods and/or services to support their business. Grant recipients must meet qualifications and follow up requirements. To qualify, the business must:
own or lease commercial space within the city limits of Mason City
have less than nine full-time equivalent employees in the 12 months prior to entering the program
must have been in business less than 5 years or have under $500,000 in annual revenues
